Leslie  Bretz

LESLIE BRETZ

Leslie Bretz Is a senior at Monticello High School where she is enrolled in dual enrollment college courses. She has just begun her internship with The Ivy Group, and plans on continuing it through her senior year. Leslie has an interest in graphic design, web design, and photography.  She also enjoys participating in Destination Imagination as well as playing soccer. Leslie is planning on majoring in Communications at a college in Virginia.

Miranda  Kaufman-Waldron

MIRANDA KAUFMAN-WALDRON

Miranda is a Charlottesville native who enjoys travelling, reading, and watching sports. As a history major, this is Miranda's first foray into the world of marketing. At The Ivy Group she will be assisting with e-newsletters, presentations, PR and media lists, alongside a whole host of other things. She will be graduating from UVA in May 2012 with a major in history and a minor in foreign affairs.

Amy Shroyer

AMY SHROYER

A current fourth year at the University of Virginia, Amy Shroyer decided to pursue her interest in public relations through an internship at the Ivy Group.  Amy is double majoring in Media Studies and Spanish, and really enjoys her coursework.  Amy also enjoys being a member of her sorority and really appreciated her time as a University Singer and as a cycle instructor at the Aquatic & Fitness Center.  Amy is very excited to help out at the Ivy Group, looks forward to whatever comes after graduation, and in the meantime is savoring her last year at the University of Virginia.

Katelin Cosner

KATELIN COSNER

 After interning during her senior year at Monticello High School Katelin couldn’t stand to leave after the school year had ended and continued her internship at The Ivy Group throughout the summer.  Katelin is currently attending The College of William & Mary to study business.

Katie Speace

KATIE SPEACE

Katie interned at The Ivy Group for the length of her last winter term at the University of Delaware. During her time here she conducted social media research, created media lists and wrote press releases and website copy. She also played a part in editing numerous proposals, reports and other materials.

Katie graduated from the University of Delaware in May 2011 with a BA in Communications, a concentration in Public Relations and a minor in Journalism.

David Infante

DAVID INFANTE

David was an intern at The Ivy Group from February to August 2010.  As a New Jersey resident and a transfer from Middlebury College in Vermont, David joined us in early February 2010 during his final semester at the University of Virginia. He says The Ivy Group taught him an immeasurable amount about the craft of marketing, advertising and client relationships. What he liked most about his experience was the amount of trust he was given with presenting his work to clients. He says he will never forget the great relationships he formed with his coworkers at The Ivy Group.

David graduated in May 2010 with a degree in English Literature. He plans to pursue a position in advertising or marketing, and is especially interested in digital/interactive media. David says he prays that no one ever figures out a way to track hours spent on Facebook, as an overwhelming majority of his free time is wasted on social media (although his expertise in social media was an asset to The Ivy Group).

Heather Klein

HEATHER KLEIN

Heather interned at The Ivy Group from August 2009 to May 2010. During her time, Heather spearheaded design and advertising projects and developed close relationships with local clients, specifically the retailers of the Seminole Square Shopping Center. She and a small team launched the first annual Fall and Spring festival events which helped establish a place for the shopping center in the Charlottesville community. Heather was in charge of all graphic materials such as banners, signs, flyers, handouts, a store directory, and other promotional supplements. She also promoted city-wide marketing events such as food drives and a veterans’ photography tribute.

Heather graduated from the University of Virginia in May 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art and a concentration in Digital Art/New Media. She is currently a graduate student at Virginia Commonwealth University Brandcenter (recognized as the number one graduate school in the U.S. for advertising and marketing), where she is working toward a Master's degree in Communication with a concentration in Creative Technology. She hopes to apply the marketing, digital and teamwork skills learned at The Ivy Group to her pursuit of a career in the advertising world.

Marcellies Pettiford

MARCELLIES PETTIFORD

Marcellies was a 2010 summer intern at The Ivy Group. WIth regard to his time with us, Marcellies says he is truly appreciative for an experience that gave him a great deal of knowledge.

Marcellies graduated in May 2010 from the University of Richmond with a degree in Business Administration and concentration in Marketing. After his internship at The Ivy Group, Marcellies began to pursue a marketing career in account management. He is currently an associate media planner at LM&O Advertising in Arlington, Virginia.

Catherine Yu

CATHERINE YU

Catherine interned at The Ivy Group from 2009 to 2010. Catherine was given roles in many different projects during her time with us. A major part she played in her internship was planning the Fall and Spring festivals at local shopping centers with her fellow interns. Catherine says she learned the importance of building relationships at The Ivy Group through having constant interaction with clients.

Catherine graduated from the University of Virginia in 2010 with a degree in Foreign Affairs and a degree in East Asian Languages, Literatures, and Cultures. Upon graduation, Catherine spent the summer on a mission in Peru. She plans to pursue an internship with the International Justice Missions (IJM) or a similar organization.

Kellie Barth

KELLIE BARTH

Kellie interned at The Ivy Group during the summer of 2009. Through her experience with us, Kellie was able to explore the different aspects of marketing and public relations in order to narrow her interests in the field. She says she enjoyed working on a marketing plan for the Fort Hill Bowling Center in Lynchburg, which allowed her to personally get to know the client and evaluate their needs. Kellie says The Ivy Group provided her with a chance to test out the skills she acquired in school as well as the opportunity to get to know a great group of people in the industry.

A native of Charlottesville, Kellie graduated from Elon University in the spring of 2010 with a major in Strategic Communications and a minor in Human Services. Kellie is currently working toward a Master's degree in Public Relations at the University of Denver in Denver, Colorado.

Seth Hardesty

SETH HARDESTY

Seth interned with The Ivy Group during the summer of 2009, working primarily with the Seminole Square and Pantops shopping centers and getting to know the merchants and retail business well. Seth says his experience with The Ivy Group provided him with a number of life lessons and priceless hands-on marketing, consulting and public relations projects.

Seth graduated from Bridgewater College in 2010 with a degree in Communications and concentration in Public Relations. He is currently pursuing a career in marketing and public relations.

Brad Josephson

BRAD JOSEPHSON

Brad interned at The Ivy Group during the summers of 2008 and 2009. At The Ivy Group, Brad helped out with marketing and advertising campaigns for clients and completed projects in graphic design and website mapping. He says the most important thing he learned at The Ivy Group is that every client has different needs, and the sooner they are recognized the easier it is to meet them.

Brad graduated in 2010 from the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Drake University with a B.A. in Public Relations and a minor in Marketing. During his time at Drake, Brad was also very involved in his fraternity, Theta Chi, and was a member of PRSSA (Public Relations Student Society of America). Brad is currently a Communications Associate for PayStream Advisors, a financial consulting company in Charlotte, North Carolina.

COURTNEY KESSLER

Courtney interned at The Ivy Group from October 2008 to May 2009. During her internship she worked closely with a local client, Blue Ridge Builders Supply, and learned how to brand and market the three unique stores in the Blue Ridge area. Courtney built relationships with the client and local media contacts, and she learned the importance of maintaining an organized marketing strategy and how to implement it effectively. She says her favorite part of working with BRBS was learning how to use different graphic design programs to design flyers and brochures for the company.

Courtney received a BA in Media Studies and a minor in Film Studies from the University of Virginia in May 2009. Upon graduation she moved to Washington DC, where she served the Crisis & Litigation team of Levick Strategic Communications. After nine months with the company she decided to pursue her career in New York City, taking a job in the technology practice at Edelman Public Relations. She now assists with media relations, digital engagement and executive positioning for clients ranging from multinational corporations to startup tech firms.

SANJIDA RASHID

Sanjida interned for The Ivy Group briefly in the fall of 2009.  During her internship she provided the invaluable service of cataloging The Ivy Group's multitude of work samples.  Sanjida is currently a student at the University of Virginia, studying both Economics and Studio Art.

JANE SCUDDER

Jane interned at The Ivy Group from 2008 to 2009 during her senior year at the University of Virginia. Over the course of the year, Jane spent most of her time working with one of The Ivy Group’s oldest clients, Great Eastern Management, and the three shopping centers they own and coordinate. Jane maintained the client's website, encouraged joint marketing ventures, wrote copy for advertisements and press releases and helped coordinate new TV commercials. Wearing the hat of event planner, Jane helped to plan several store grand openings and re-openings.  She also worked closely with a local television station to develop a Halloween costume contest that would drive foot traffic to one of the shopping centers.

Jane graduated in 2009 with a BA in Anthropology and Sociology. She is currently an Associate in Brand Advertising at Capital One.

Ali Stathis

ALI STATHIS

Ali interned with The Ivy Group during the summer of 2009. During her time with us, Ali had the opportunity to work personally with clients and was included in important meetings. She says one of her favorite things about working with us was being able to see the results of her performance – she was able to include a promotional post card she designed for a client, as well as many other finished projects, in her professional portfolio upon leaving The Ivy Group.

Following her time at The Ivy Group, Ali worked as a summer intern in the Development Department at the National Breast Cancer Coalition in Washington, D.C. She plans to graduate in 2011 from the University of Virginia with a BA in Economics and English.

Justin True

JUSTIN TRUE

Justin was an intern with The Ivy Group during the summer of 2009.  He expects to graduate from Old Dominion University in 2011 with a degree in Public Relations and Marketing.

Agnes Lee

AGNES LEE

Agnes interned with The Ivy Group during her senior year at the University of Virginia. Agnes provided vital website development services for the company, which was a shift from her initial interest in print design. During her time with us, Agnes worked on new websites for the Vietnam Children’s Fund and Paul D. Camp Community College, gathering content and ensuring that the sites were well-indexed.

Agnes says The Ivy Group taught her that teamwork, professionalism and critical thinking are important in website design and development, and the skills she gained from her internship are essential for her future career goals. Agnes is currently continuing her interest in the web as a Web Marketing & Content Assistant at the Thompson Publishing Group.

Nick Duke

NICK DUKE

Nick interned at The Ivy Group during the summer of 2007. While working at The Ivy Group, Nick was able to explore both marketing and communications; this helped him narrow down his future career goals. Nick enjoyed working on remapping and designing the new website for the Cavalier Inn. Afterwards, he proudly showed a future employer an example of the work he had done for The Ivy Group.

A native of Charlottesville, VA, he attended Elon University in North Carolina. Nick graduated in May 2008 with a BA in Corporate Communications.  He plans to move to New York City or Denver, Colorado to work for the US Olympics.

Minji Lim

MINJI LIM

Minji was an intern for The Ivy Group from the fall of 2006 to the spring of 2007. Before her internship she thought she wanted to pursue a career in the artistic side of marketing, but through her experience at The Ivy Group she realized she preferred the business side of it. Minji says her internship completely altered her career path from a "fine arts hippie" to a future MBA candidate, and her experience at The Ivy Group helped her learn the basics of business, marketing and advertising to give her an edge when searching for future employment.

Minji graduated from the University of Virginia in 2007 with a major in Studio Art. She is currently attending graduate school at The Catholic University of America with plans to graduate in 2011.

Sarah Morra

SARAH MORRA

Sarah interned for The Ivy Group during the summer of 2007. She says the most valuable thing from her experience as an intern was working directly with clients. For Paul D. Camp Community College, she was in charge of reorganizing the structure of the college’s current website and designing a new navigation scheme. Sarah enjoyed meeting the client face-to-face and discussing the work she had done.
Sarah graduated in 2008 from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Marketing. She currently works as a consultant for Booz Allen Hamilton in Washington, D.C.

LAURA SISK

Laura interned at The Ivy Group in her senior year of college during the spring of 2007. She decided to intern with us in order to gain experience in the realm of public relations.

At the University of Virginia, Laura was involved in the student newspaper, The Cavalier Daily, as an associate editor and senior staff writer. She graduated in 2007 with a BA in Religious Studies and History. She currently lives in New York City.
